WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I ADD OIL TO MY FOUNDATION?

One of the most popular trends in the world of beauty has been mixing facial oil with your foundation, this has been said to provide a more natural, dewy and light finish to the skin for a ‘flawless insta perfect selfie’. I thought I’d investigate into this new craze…
When you add oil to your foundation it gives your foundation more of a liquid, runny consistency, this enables you to blend your foundation in with less effort as it glides across your skin more easily. I still have the same coverage with my foundation as I would if I did not mix it with oil. Another difference that I have noticed when using oil in my foundation routine is that it has a very dewy finish, which is nice where the natural highlights on my face are, however I do usually go over my T- zone with a small application of powder, I found that even after mixing the oil with my foundation it was easier to blend my other makeup as well, such as bronzer, highlighter, power etc.

The main difference that I have noticed when mixing oil with my foundation is that my skin looks much more natural, you can’t see that I’m wearing foundation because the oil helps the foundation to blend in so perfectly with the skin.
The ratio that I usually use for foundation to oil is 4:1 this is because I don’t want my foundation to be too runny as I already have a rather thin foundation anyway (No 7 Airbrush Away) but I still like the shine that the oil adds to my face/. If you have a fairly thick foundation you may want to increase the amount of oil that you add. Personally I find it difficult to use thick foundation as it makes my face feel really cakey and I don’t like thinking about it clogging up my pores so I tend to go with fairly runny ones ayway.
The one slight con when using oil in your foundation routine is that it doesn’t quite have that full staying power and it can begin to stray, especially if you live an active lifestyle. I also wouldn’t recommend those with acne prone skin to use facial oil with foundation daily as oils have been known to clog pores and make acne worse, as I have fairly  dry skin facial oil is ideal for me to maintain the appearance and hydration of my skin.

I use the Renew Face Oil by Ermana. I found that this oil mixed really nicely with my foundation and did not separate at all after mixing.
The oil contains many ingredients beneficial to the skin, such as neroli and ylang ylang which helps to tone the skin and relieve irritation. The oil also contains plant oils, natural vitamins, minerals, anti -oxidants and  omega oils. Vitamin E is also in the oil to boost collagen and aid cell regeneration, this benefits mature/ ageing skin.
It is £25 for a 30ml bottle that comes with a glass pipette, all of Ermana’s products are organic and natural, I have used other products from them and have not been let down.

Overall I would say that this was a very good idea, I believe it was brought around by the You tuber Wayne Goss. Since day one of using oil in my foundation I have noticed a clearer, brighter complexion and now use oil in my foundation everyday.
